In the Tracks of Memory

In The Tracks of Memory is a collaboration between composers Klive and Nigel Humberstone (In The Nursery), academics Brendan Stone and David Forrest (Storying Sheffield) and filmmaker Alex Keegan.

Using footage from a collection of Sheffield transport films, interspersed with memories and anecdotes from Sheffield residents, the film paints a vivid picture of the city, from the Edwardian period, through the 50s and 60s to the present.

Klive and Nigel Humberstone (In The Nursery) are Sheffield-based musicians and composers with a specialism in cinematic works and soundtracks. Their scores for classic silent films are performed around the world.

Brendan Stone leads the Storying Sheffield project at the University of Sheffield. His research interests are in mental health, communities, wellbeing, and place.

David Forrest is a lecturer in film studies at the University of Sheffield. He has published work on the British New Wave and British television drama. His latest book is Social Realism: Art, Nationhood and Politics.

Alex Keegan is a freelance filmmaker based in Sheffield. Specialising in the documentation of underground music culture, Alex has worked with the Sensoria Festival, Drumro[ll] and LA beat merchants Teebs & Jeremiah Jae.
